2020 Virtual Air, Space & Cyber Conference

SEPTEMBER 14 - 16, 2020

AFA’s Air, Space & Cyber Conference is going virtual. AFA reached this decision only after carefully considering the current and projected state of the COVID-19 pandemic, guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, directives from the State of Maryland and Prince George’s County, and feedback we have received from prospective speakers, attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, Airmen, and Space Professionals.

AFA’s virtual Air, Space & Cyber Conference (vASC) will continue AFA’s long tradition of hosting the premier event for defense and aerospace professionals around the world. The conference will offer the same exceptional line-up of speakers, world-class (virtual) exhibits, professional development opportunities, and important interaction between and among industry, government, the media, academia, and the public.

vASC 2020 will be held in mid-September and will provide Airmen, Space Professionals, and industry leaders direct insights into the plans, policies and vision of Air Force and Space Force leadership, and emerging trends and developments in aerospace and cyber technology.

You can expect:

- The multi-day conference to include updates from Air and Space Force senior leaders as well as on-demand sessions covering topics on air, space, and cyber forces in the fight

- A virtual exhibit hall with options to meet with exhibitors and learn about the latest developments in aerospace and cyber technology

-  A robust event platform offering attendees the opportunity to engage through virtual meetings with other attendees

Details on registering for vASC, how to participate, how industry can showcase their capabilities, and many more topics will be available soon. Please check back here for more information.

* A special note to AFA Delegates and others who planned to attend the AFA National Convention (usually held on the weekend preceding AFA’s Air, Space & Cyber Conference):

A decision on the AFA National Convention is pending. The AFA Executive Committee has recommended to Board of Directors that the 2020 AFA National Convention be cancelled. The EXCOM is recommending that AFA’s national elections be conducted virtually. And in the absence of Convention, efforts are underway to develop a virtual event for AFA Field Leaders and members to engage in leadership and professional development and fellowship, and to receive important updates from Department of the Air Force and AFA leaders. More information will be provided in the coming weeks.

AFA Langley Symposium and Salute Postponed

It is with regret we inform you of our decision to postpone the AFA Langley Chapter Symposium and Salute scheduled for April 15-17, 2020 until later this year. Upon consideration of CDC guidelines; DoD travel restrictions; as well as federal, state, and local official recommendations regarding the current COVID-19 global health crisis, we have decided postponing the event is in the best interest and safety of all our event participants.

Although the number of cases in our area is low, medical experts agree now is the time to take necessary precautionary measures to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus. The health and safety of our supporters is our highest priority so we are unwilling to risk exposing anyone to this very contagious virus.

In close coordination with the ACC staff, we are exploring alternative dates. Once we confirm a new date to host the Chapter's Symposium and Salute, we will announce event details in a revised "Save the Date" e-mail.

We are so grateful to our industry partners for the vital support they provide our local Airmen and their families. This event is our chapter's major fundraiser and enables us to sponsor a myriad of worthy endeavors. Some examples include meals for deploying airmen, Pitsenbarger Scholarships, plus quarterly and annual awards for ACC and all 5 Joint Base Langley-Eustis (JBLE) Wings. These funds also support Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) activities such as five local CyberPatriot Teams, local STEM Teacher of the Year Awards and multiple regional AFJROTC/CAP programs.

The needs of our Airmen and families of JBLE have not lessened. In fact, this health crisis may result in an increased need for support. Therefore, we would prefer our AFA Langley Chapter Treasurer retain your 2020 sponsorship until the event is rescheduled. As in past years, your sponsorship is a fully tax-deductible contribution.

Please contact us at with any concerns you may have. Thank you in advance for your commitment to our Airmen, their families and the entire Air Force community here at JBLE.
